As part of compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), it is mandatory that all prescription drugs returned to wholesale distributors have the product identifiers on packages of saleable returned product verified with the manufacturer before being resold. This requirement went live for the pharmaceutical supply chain in November 2019 and enforcement will begin in 2020.
